Can any manga reader tell me why frieren said “it’s an aversion to my own kind i guess”. And what does that mean in the context of the episode/show.
@SLEEK__ASSASSIN
Manga reader here, but this is basically my interpretation after reading and now watching it.
She is talking about how she was just like him in the past. Staying there at the same place doing random stuff just because they think it is already too late to move on and look for a journey. She is glad that Himmel invited her and how she was able to change thanks to that, so looking at Sein just makes her remember her own past, from that time between Flamme's death and Himmel's invitation, which she is not too fond of.

I don't think you need the manga for this. She meant herself by that since she also gave up like Sein but Himmel pulled her out of it. (and now she pulled Sein out of it the same way)
stark got that death diagnosis immediately lol. gotta love more fern and stark scenes together and the stuff with sein and his brother staying back was great as well.

@Hayuume Seems like there's a story to be told about why she reclused herself. She said she hadn't faught a demon in 500 years, meaning she was actively fighting them for 500 years after Flamme's death. I wonder what happened in that time and whether her being the person who killed more demons than anyone else in history refers to those years, instead of her time with the Hero Party...
This episode was great! I love the party and it seems that they will have great dynamics with Sein. This is exciting, and the anime has been phenomenal so far. It was interesting seeing Frieren and her efforts in trying to push Sein to join the same way Himmel did for her.
Meandering with the party as they arrive in this new village meeting yet another questionable priest. Frieren finding Sein in a bottomless mud pit isn't the best first impression. His story about the childhood friend of his that left to become an adventurer was rather poignant by the end of the episode. Good thing for Sein that Fern came along and actually helped him out of the mud since Frieren was so hesitant. A good thing she did considering what we learn about Sein. Its funny that Stark getting bit by that snake causes them do rush back and interact with Sein more. Poisons being priest medicine area of focus, the town priest however not being shown to help Stark. Him being Sein older brother a nice coincidence, letting him repay that life debt favor by healing Stark. Frieren proceeding to try and convince Sein to become and adventurer himself, I can understand his reluctance since it's very dangerous. His childhood friend never coming back could mean he's dead but maybe not too. Frieren giving him the push he needed to live out his dream sama as Himmel did for her. Sein ultimately joining them was nice to see, as they move forward once again.
I bet this episode hit hard with the older folks who are watching the show. Especialy ones with an "I'm too old for this shit." mentality.
Time, knowledge, money; those can be obtained. We have to convince ourselves that our dreams are worth going after, even if we don't succeed in the end. Every experience can make you a better person, as long as you have the desire to keep going.
Everyone's life is different and to say that following your dreams is neither as simple or as grandiose as depicted in fiction would be simply stating the obvious (although examples of the latter do exist, from as early as ancient history to our modern days). That doesn't mean we shouldn't strive to acomplish what's possible with our own abilities and our sphere of influence, regardless of how long ago we began our journey.
Stop thinking about "Why now?" and "What if I had done X back then?"!! You were'nt ready back then and the circumstances didn't allow it!
The time is now, people! Go out there and seek out your fortune!
Is it just me or is the audio quality in this episode really bad, Ive tried multiple streaming services and it’s all terrible, went back to the other episodes and it was fine.
We all knew what was going to happen this corrupt priest was going to join their party. This was a comedy episode and boy did it love using Frieren. That kiss scene was hilarious as was Frieren casually forgetting she is 1000 years old. Flamme taught that girl well. I love how everyone except the priest was backing up how they would have all fallen for Frieren.
Also Stark's got a bro now, hooray!
Can't wait for the next one!!!
manga reader but i already forgot how pain in the a** and boring Sein was.

Really chill and comforting, and nice to watch when I want to take a break. Taught me a few values and lessons as well. I hope they continue making episodes this good.
Frieren would be able to seduce me with her flying kiss, the episode is always complete if there's a Fern pout. I'm hoping for a potential OP change as we're nearly halfway through (already o.o) that Ai song is driving me insane
I’ll admit I’m not sold on Sein yet or him joining our party. I’ve gotten familiar with our current troupe, so we’ll have to see how he fits into their dynamic. I’m also curious how long of an additional he is, as it seems strongly implied he isn’t following them through their entire adventure.
For millennia, Frieren's seduction technique was 100% effective and had never failed. It's okay that in all this time, she only used it with Himmel lmao 🤣🤣🤣
Pretty good chill episode, even made me laugh in some parts and that's saying a lot since I barely laugh with this anime, I don't like the comedy that much here but the comedy in this episode was pretty good.
And Sein appears to be a good addition to the party, I'm totally cool with it.
Huh, I don't know why I never thought that we would be getting another companion, for whatever reason, it just didn't cross my mind. This new addition to the party should really spice things up though, I'm already anticipating the solid banter between companions.
When I think about it, good banter might just about be my favourite thing in anime. Re-watching Bunny Girl Senpai is reaffirming that right now as well.
