Thankyou Father. I needed to hear this message.

When I was a child of 5, my grandfather reposed. His was the first funeral I attended and it was very traumatic because he was well-loved; the event was well-attended and there was a lot of sorrow and crying. I was raised in a Protestant household and was very confused as to why everyone was crying when we were taught at church that when we die we go to heaven, which should be a joyous occasion. Orthodox Christianity is the first religion I have found that has really dealt honestly with death.

Thank you beloved, holy, and precious Elder...I or we who were blessed to grow up in the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad look up to you, him, such staunch yet merciful Mentors and Guides! From your worthless little servant Fr. Nicholas the Greek...May His Memory Be Eternal!

Thank you Fr. No on else's sermons seem to strike me the remembrence of death - or falling asleep - as much as yours. I guess that is a good thing well needed in our times.
