Early life

edit

Gray’s career began at university, where he discovered photography under the guidance of photographic book publisher Stuart Smith. He developed a strong sense of narrative through documentary photography, citing Don McCullin and Martin Parr as major influences.[2]

Influenced by his father's record store, Andy's Records, Charlie Gray developed an early interest in visual storytelling. His mother, a vintage fashion dealer, also contributed to his appreciation for craftsmanship and aesthetics.[3]

Exhibitions

edit

In September 2023, Gray opened a solo exhibition titled Performance at Leica Gallery in London. The exhibition featured twelve portraits of actors, artists, and musicians, showcasing Gray's narrative style. The portraits included images of Robert De Niro, Ronnie Wood, and Monica Bellucci.[4]
